The Gulf side “half” at the causeway’s westward end is an island with parking and a white sand beach surrounding it. To the West, on this island, find a wide, sandy bathing beach and then even more sunning and fishing can be had on the landward side.
We especially love it for its exceptional sunset views. During sunny beach days it does get crowded (two million visitors each year!) The crowd tapers off towards sunset except on weekends.

If you like a more relaxed space and a shady place with a view for picnicking or relaxing then we suggest the Eastern or land side of the causeway. You can launch a canoe to explore the waterways leading to Lake Avoca. (Be aware of the tides timetable as the waterways are affected.) You may want to reserve one of the 9 shelters for a family or group get-together. You can also walk the trails or bring your camp chair, a good book and relax with an extraordinary view of the Gulf at any time of day.

In addition to the picnic shelters, there are 6 restrooms, 2 playgrounds and a ball field. There is a beach parking fee of $5 per day at the automated pay stations in the parking area.
