. . .and on our latest visit we see the blank canvas has met the artists and the ongoing results taking place are becoming quite the masterpiece for all to enjoy!
New trees, bushes and other landscape plantings that create very inviting places to walk, view and enjoy. There is a new area for man’s best friend to romp, unique playground equipment for little ones to discover and play on, an interesting splash park area with picnic tables adjacent from which moms and dads can watch their children play. There’s a beautiful, new, clean restroom facility and shelters that may be reserved.
The new boardwalks are great viewing stations from which to watch the fish and waterfowl coming and going as they look for food along the shoreline. How about a pick-up game of sandlot volleyball? That looks like a lot of fun and good exercise as well.
Still very much a work in progress though it looks like it is complete. Admission and parking are free so if you like to visit parks this is one you really need to put on your must-see list. The outer loop measures a mile so there is much more to see than we have shown, including the Florida Veterans Memorial Plaza. So, plan to take your time to see and enjoy it all.
For contrast we have included a couple of photos from a 2018 visit. It is easy to see the differences are really day and night.
All the paths are concrete or boardwalk and suitable for wheelchairs and walkers, Including the one-mile outer loop.
Find free parking along South Glenwood Avenue and in a small parking lot just off Gulf to Bay on South Lake Drive near the Veterans Memorial Plaza.
